At exactly 10:30am on Monday, 18th July 2016, Prof. Daniel Obeng-Ofori, Pro-Vice Chancellor of University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) was ushered into the workshop premises for the commencement of the opening ceremony. In his entourage was Mr. Andrew K. Boateng, Registrar, UENR, Dr. Amos T. Kabo-bah, Head, Earth Observation and Research Innovation Centre (EORIC), UENR, and Dr. Simon Abugre, Dean of Students, UENR.
Seated and ready for the workshop was over twenty participants coupled with the facilitators. Dr. (Mrs.) Mercy A. A. Derkyi, the lead facilitator for the workshop introduced the guest and rightfully invited the Pro Vice Chancellor the opportunity to welcome the participants and officially open the workshop.
As should be the expected, Prof. Obeng-Ofori gave a brief but succinct address. He stressed on the need for every University to take research seriously since development is directly linked to research. He further noted that as a University, our relevance to the immediate environment and the international community is linked to research.
He stated that enhancing our research skills as professionals and academic staff is a step in the right direction. He, therefore, wished the participants well in their new research endeavor and declared the workshop duly opened.
