Upcoming Training 2
The Satellite, Weather and Climate division of the Earth Observation Research and Innovation Centre (EORIC) at the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani – Ghana is organizing a three (3) day seminar dedicated for all Students at all levels, especially Staff and Postgraduate Students on Latex for Scientific and Engineering Writing.
The course teaches participants newest Latex standards for typesetting professional research papers. One of the advantages of Latex over other more traditional systems (like word or open office) is the high typographical quality of the output document, especially for those that are heavy on mathematics and other scientific areas. Latex allows the user to clearly separate the content and style from the format of one’s document. Latex is better at consistent handling of intra-document reference and bibliography.
Hands-on-sessions in basic Latex will allow users to test and understand how the editor works. Participants can present their assignments, reports and scientific writings such as thesis and papers using the Latex editor.
- Introduction to Latex
- Editing and Inserting symbols
- Math in Latex
- Inserting plots/figures
Staff and students at all levels.
At the end of the training, participants are expected to prepare documents in scientific and engineering writing using the Latex editor.
Participants will receive a free copy of the slides.
