Directions: Sunyani is the capital of the Brong-Ahafo Region. It lies North-West, approximately 380km (7 hours) drive from Accra, the capital of Ghana.

How to reach Sunyani

By organized bus: The LOC will make a bus available at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) shell in Accra for ICCCSDA 2017 participants who will want to travel to Sunyani by bus. The bus will depart from the VIP Airport Shell terminal and head for the conference venue on Monday 24th July, 2017 at 7:00 am.  Please kindly e-mail  icccsda2017@uenr.edu.gh or call +233(0) 246565451 if you will want to book your seat on or before 23rd July, 2017.
By public bus: You could reach Sunyani by using any of two public bus options.

  1. VIP Bus

The VIP bus transport company is a private enterprise which runs transportation services in Ghana popularly known as ‘VIP’. The major bus routes include ‘Accra to Kumasi’, ‘Kumasi to Accra’, ‘Accra to Sunyani’ and ‘Sunyani to Accra’. The main VIP bus terminal is located at the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, Circle, Accra.  Commuters who  wish to travel to Sunyani directly can access this service. This service costs GHC 50.00/ USD 12.00 approx.

This service will not bring participants to the conference venue. Participants will have to pay for a taxi to convey them from the Sunyani VIP terminal to the conference venue which is approximately 15 minutes drive from the terminal.

  1. State Transport Corporation (STC) Bus

The State Transport Corporation is a state owned enterprise with runs transportation services in Ghana. At present STC does not run direct services from Accra to Sunyani. However if you wish to join an STC bus, you are first required to buy an advanced ticket for Kumasi at the STC Head Office terminal at Circle, Accra. Whilst making your ticket purchase, kindly enquire about the departure times for Kumasi and buy the most convenient one. The STC bus from Accra to Kumasi will have its last stop at the STC Terminal located in Adum, Kumasi.

Upon your arrival in Kumasi, you would have to join a bus which is headed for Sunyani. An option is the Metro Mass Transit Bus. In Kumasi, the Metro Mass Transit Station designated for buses headed for Sunyani is located at Abrepo Junction which is approximately 7-8 Km from Adum.

This service will not bring participants to the conference venue. Participants will have to pay for a taxi to convey them from the Metro Mass Terminal to the conference venue which is approximately 15 minutes’ drive from the terminal.

By flight:

Upon your arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, you could join a flight to Kumasi, the second largest city in Ghana, and then join a bus to Sunyani. At present, there are no direct commercial flights available from Accra to Sunyani. A flight from Accra to Kumasi is approximately 50 minutes. Airlines which fly to and from Kumasi include Africa World Airlines and Starbow.

You are kindly advised to make direct ticket purchases/reservations in advance with the airline company of your choice.

Upon your arrival in Kumasi, you would have to join a bus which is headed for Sunyani. An option is the Metro Mass Transit Bus. In Kumasi, the Metro Mass Transit Station designated for buses headed for Sunyani is located at Abrepo Junction which is approximately 7-8 Km from the Central Business District-Adum and approx. 6 Km from the Kumasi Airport.
