Members of the National Executive Council of the Ghana Institution of Engineers have paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the University Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Sunyani. The visit by members of the prestigious Institution of Engineers was part of their preparation towards the upcoming annual general conference of the Engineers in Sunyani later this year.
The visit also sought to strengthen the partnership between the two institutions and explore further areas of collaboration.
Prof H. K. Dappah, Vice Chancellor, thanked the Institution for the honour and hoped that the relationship between UENR and the Institution of Engineers will be strengthened for the mutual benefit of the two the institutions.
He lauded the Institution of Engineers for instituting an award scheme for engineering students in UENR and described it as a step in the right direction.
The President of the institution, Ing. Dr. Kwame Boakye spoke about the upcoming conference under the theme Ghana’s Natural Resources and Sustainable Development. He said the institution looks forward for a massive participation from UENR and further appealed to the Vice Chancellor to sponsor members to participate in the conference.
Dr. Boakye hinted that an innovation forum would be organized as part of the conference and hoped for the participation of UENR students in the forum to showcase their inventions among others.
