A delegation from the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education has paid a monitoring visit to the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani, on May 19, 2014. According to the Chairman of the Select Committee, Honourable Mathias A. Puozaa, the visit was part of the oversight responsibilities of the Committee and to afford the Committee the opportunity to ascertain for itself the progress of development at the University.
Welcoming the delegation to UENR, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Esi Awuah introduced the Committee to the academic programs currently on offer at the University, those to be commenced in the 2014/2015 academic year, the GEONETCast Centre and other activities undertaken by the University. She also called on the Committee to assist the University with the required resources needed to tackle the young institution’s infrastructural and logistical challenges.
The Committee thereafter conducted inspections at the construction sites for the University’s ICT/Library Complex, Hostel and Classroom blocks currently being undertaken at the Sunyani Campus of the University. The Committee expressed their satisfaction at the diligence of management and staff of the University for the work done so far. The Chairman of the Select Committee assured UENR of the Committee’s support and stated that the Committee would also use the appropriate channels at its disposal to address the challenges facing the University.
