In a gesture of generosity and a commitment to nurturing the dreams of brilliant but needy students, Apostle Anthony Baidoo, a Lecturer at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), and his spouse, Mrs. Ellen Baidoo, a Junior Assistant Registrar at UENR, have embarked on a mission that is changing lives and shaping the fortunes of UENR students.

The couple has established the Baidoo Scholarship Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting and empowering the dreams of university students through financial aid.

The Baidoo Scholarship Foundation was officially launched on June 26, 2022, during a special ceremony at UENR’s Student Christian Community (SCC) Service. The launch was graced by Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako, the Vice-Chancellor of UENR, who commended the Baidoo family for their noble initiative and unwavering commitment to education.

Tracing the rationale for the Foundation, Apostle Baidoo’s life journey has been marked by the benevolence of kind-hearted individuals who helped him achieve his dreams. Feeling a deep sense of obligation and a divine calling, he and his wife have taken it upon themselves to pay forward the kindness they once received.

During the 2022/2023 academic year, the Foundation extended its helping hand to 15 deserving UENR students, providing scholarships in various categories. These categories included tuition fees and hostel fees, tuition fees only, hostel fees only, and partial tuition fees. The impact was immediate, as the recipients were given the financial support they needed to pursue their academic goals.

The Foundation has awarded 30 outstanding UENR students for the 2023/2024 academic year. As part of their scholarship package, each awardee will receive a minimum of One Thousand Ghana Cedis and a maximum of Four Thousand Ghana Cedis. This financial assistance is expected not only to alleviate the financial burden on these students but also enable them to focus on their studies and excel academically.
