DIGITRAIN OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED BY UENR PEER COUNSELLORS-DORMAA CAMPUS, University of Energy and Natural Resources - Sunyani

Training on digital skills dubbed “Digitrain” has been launched at the Dormaa Campus of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), with a call on students to patronize every opportunity of digital training as well as acquire the needed technical skills that would enable them to adapt effectively to the contemporary world.

The founder and patron of UENR Peer Counselors, Mr. Prince Kwame Affum, was speaking at the maiden SC Digitrain programme held at the Dormaa Campus on March 18, 2022. According to the Counsellor, equipping students with digital skills will go a long way to increase work output and productivity in the various facets of society. He added that such skills would imbibe in students some relevant knowledge and values needed to survive in the 21st century and equip them with entrepreneurship skills that would make them more self-dependent.

SC Digitrain program is a skill-training programme for students, initiated by the executives of UENR Peer Counselors  (Dormaa Campus) in partnership with Silicon Class Studios, to train students in developing digital skills. The event was graced by a representative from the Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive and chaired by the Faculty Officer for the School of Agriculture and Technology, Mr. Ernest Bachela Mbawini. 

The President of the UENR Peer Counsellors, Dormaa Campus, Mr. Peter Addo in his speech, noted that the various modules for the year 2022 will include, Photography, Basic photo shooting skills and documentary making, Photo and Video Editing, Drone piloting, Graphic designing, Video live streaming and Professional Media personality skills. 

In his presentation, a Junior Assistant Registrar from Sunyani Campus, Mr. David Sekyi Yirenkyi, who was the main speaker for the event said globally, the manual ways of doing things are gradually fading out hence the need to take advantage of every opportunity of digital training to acquire the needed knowledge that will enable them to adapt aptly. The training saw a massive participation by students at the Dormaa Campus who expressed their joy and satisfaction towards the programme.
