Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College Delegation Visits UENR on STEM Education Awareness, University of Energy and Natural Resources - Sunyani

The Management of University of Energy and Natural Resources welcomed a delegation from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College as part of its educational exchange programme. The delegation, consisting of 38 students with nine (9) foreign nationals was led by Lt. Col. Dominic Buah, the Chief Course Instructor.

Brigadier General Albert Kwadwo Dawohoso, Assistant Commandant of the Junior Division, in an interaction revealed that the students were focused on conducting research related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education within the region, recognizing the University’s reputation in championing  STEM education.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako highlighted the University’s significant contributions to STEM education. He discosed that the University embarked on the awareness creation of STEM education seven years ago with its focus on the sciences. The Vice-Chancellor added that the University’s collaborative efforts with organizations like Women in Engineering and some of its initiatives, such as the STEM Festival and effective Outreach programmes to Senior High Schools, aims at promoting STEM education in Ghana. He used the opportunity to call for an improved collaboration between the University and the Security sSices, emphasizing on the the need to enhance visibility and diversity in STEM education.

Present at the engagement included Prof. John K. M. Kuwornu, the Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University; Mr. Alfred Ohenenana Appiah, Deputy Registrar, University Relations Office and Mr. David Twumasi-Ankrah, Senior Assistant Registrar and Acting Head, General Administration of the University.
