Members of the Registrar’s Offices Welfare Scheme (ROWS) Attend Its Annual Continuous Professional Development Training, University of Energy and Natural Resources - Sunyani

As part of its annual activities, the Registrar’s Offices Welfare Scheme (ROWS) of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) on Thursday, August 17, 2023, organized a Continuous Professional Development training programme for its members.

The ceremony which was on the theme “Understanding Your Role as an Administrator in the Registrar’s Offices” and graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako and the Ag. Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John K.M. Kuwornu,convened  participants from administrative departments, units, divisions and offices under the Office of the Registrar had the opportunity to receive facilitations on topnotch topics significant to their professional growth.

Chairman of ROWS, Mr. Charles Aidoo

In his welcome address, the Chairman of ROWS, Mr. Charles Aidoo thanked the members for highly patronizing the activities of ROWS especially the training programme. He was hopeful that the participants at the end of the training would be equipped with the requisite skills and knowledge needed for their work.  He reaffirmed the Scheme’s quest to continually contribute to the wellbeing of its members as mandated.

 Solomon Panford, Esq.,APR,

The Patron of the ROWS and the Registrar of the University, Solomon Panford, Esq.,APR, in his remarks was pleased with the executives of ROWS for their initiatives geared towards the professional growth of its members. He noted that as Administrators of the Registrar’s Offices, it is prudent to acquire additional skills beneficial to the efficient and effective delivery of their duties. The Registrar further pledged his continuous support towards the Scheme.

Mr. Daniel Hormeku

Speaking on the theme of the day, a Senior Assistant Registrar at the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, University of Ghana, Mr. Daniel Hormeku espoused that administrators’ work is very essential because they are the lifeblood of the institutions who steer its daily affairs. According to Mr. Hormeku, Administrators ought to imbibe the values of their organization and acquire technical, human and conceptual skills in order to perform their duties effectively. He also encouraged the participants to find avenues to improve on their career path by acquiring the right qualifications, joining a professional body and broadening their networks.

Mr. Hayford Asare, CIHRM

In a detailed presentation, the Head and Deputy Registrar at the Human Resources Division, Mr. Hayford Asare walked participants through “Preparing for Promotion”. He said promotions that are properly earned is a measure of growth and competence as well as a sign of readiness for higher responsibility and a reward for hard work. Mr. Asare also disclosed the procedures and expectations for promotion of senior members and senior staff, emphasizing on the need to prepare for promotion ahead of time.

The Director of Records and Archives Department of the Bono Region, Mr. Clement Owusu Yeboah led a team of staff from his office to deliver thoroughly on the topic “Filing and Records Management”.

At the end of the training session, Members clad in the ROWS cloth demonstrated an atmosphere which was evident that the programme was an impactful one.
