On Wednesday, February 28, 2024 the University Community was sensitized on Mental Health at a Seminar jointly organized by the Office of the Dean of Students, GIZ team (German European Centre), and the TUCEE Institute of Counselling and Technology.

A Mental Health Advocate and President of the TUCEE Institute of Counselling and Technology, Dr. Cecilia Tutu-Danquah in her presentation covered important aspects of mental health. The discussion of this crucial topic featured the presence of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John K. M. Kuwornu, and the Dean of Students, Prof. Simon Abugre, who highlighted the technicalities of preserving mental well-being.

Dr. Cecilia Tutu-Danquah further gave an inspiring talk about the foundations of mental wellness, underlined the need to develop a solid relationship with God and stressed that mental health is primarily based on spiritual wellness. She noted, “We were created to worship God and serve Him,” highlighting the close relationship between spirituality and mental health.
Speaking briefly about contentment, Dr. Cecilia Tutu-Danquah urged participants to accept their present situation in life while pursuing personal development, “Appreciate the gradual process of becoming who you aspire to be”, she urged.
The views on accepting oneself were reiterated by the Vice President of TUCEE Institute of Counselling and Technology, Mr. Wisdom K. Kudjordji underscored the importance of accepting one’s self for who they are and not giving in to peer pressure or inferiority complex. He urged participants to cultivate a good self-image, saying, “We must not allow others to undermine our self-worth.”
The occasion emphasized the value of mental health as well as the commitment of the University of Energy and Natural Resources to fostering both intellectual achievement and individual growth.
