The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Owusu Banahene, on February 24, 2022 launched the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR),10th Anniversary celebration at a colorful ceremony held at the University Auditorium. The University established by an Act of Parliament, Act 830, 2011 on December 31, 2011, has made strides to impact leadership, management of energy and natural resources and striving to become a center of excellence in these critical areas beyond the borders of Ghana.
In his speech at the launch of the anniversary, the University Council Chairman, Prof. Kwasi Nsiah-Gyabaah eulogized the University’s achievements over the past decade. He confidently believed that 10 years is a milestone for the years ahead to impart the future generation.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako in his welcome address acknowledged the Foundation Management of the University, whose efforts have nurtured a “fully-grown tree of ten years”. He said the University is proud to celebrate its 10th year of existence, which according to him, is a symbol of wholeness looking at the University’s achievements in a decade. The Vice-Chancellor hinted at a series of events to mark the yearlong celebration while taking stock of successes and challenges of the University and the way forward to becoming a world-class university.
Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako called on all to join in the series of events to mark the yearlong celebration on the theme: “A Decade of Academic Excellence in Energy and Natural Resources Education: Commemorating the Past, Celebration the Present and Shaping the Future for National Development.”
Speaking as the Guest Speaker for the occasion, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Owusu-Banahene, congratulated UENR on its anniversary commemoration. She further commended the University for contributing to the quality of tertiary education in the Bono and Ahafo regions as well as the country at large. The Regional Minister assured the government’s support for the University who is a key promoter of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in Ghana.
At a ceremony, the anniversary logo and cloth were also unveiled for the public to fraternize. The event was well attended by Traditional leaders, Regional heads of government and private institutions, Security services, Staff and Students of the University.
