UENR HOSTS NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF SENIOR STAFF ASSOCIATION-UNIVERSITIES OF GHANA.
The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Senior Staff Association – Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) held its 19th meeting at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) from Wednesday, 31st July to Friday, 2nd August, 2024.
The meeting, held with a focus on advancing members knowledge and professional development, highlighted the collaborative spirit and commitment of member institutions.
Mr. Clifford Asomah Kyere, Chairman of SSA-UoG, UENR expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the event at UENR, emphasizing the significance of this gathering for the University community.
He admonished members to have a discourse without fear or malice and make strategic and meaningful suggestions on the practical operation of the meeting.

The National Chairman of SSA-UoG, Mr. George Ansong delivered a presentation outlining the meeting’s agenda which included a training and sensitization session on critical topics. He urged participants to relay the insights gained back to their respective institutions, reinforcing their roles as representatives.
Dr. Ohenenana Appiah
Dr. Ohenenana Appiah, Head of the University Relations Office (URO), extended a warm welcome to the NEC members on behalf of the University Management. He highlighted UENR’s rapid growth and development, underscoring the institution’s dynamic role in higher education.
The meeting featured presentations by Officials from the National Pensions Regulatory Authority and Enterprise Trustees Limited. Mr. Samuel Baffour Awuah from the National Pensions Regulatory Authority and Mr. Kofi Asomaning-Sakyi from Enterprise Trustees Limited delivered an in-depth session on pension schemes. They provided a comprehensive overview of pensions and the structure of various tier schemes along with their associated benefits.
Mr. Asomaning-Sakyi emphasized the importance of personal pension planning and financial preparedness for the future. His insights underscored the necessity of proactive financial management to ensure long-term security.

The meeting continued with a closed door meeting on issues of Conditions of Services, Constitutional Review and other Critical Welfare Issues till Friday, 2nd August 2024.
