The Indian High Commissioner, H.E Mr. Sugandh Rajaram on Monday, June 13, 2022 paid a working visit to the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR). The visit formed part of the High Commissioner’s one-week tour to the Bono Region.
The Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebayo Felix Adekoya representing the Vice-Chancellor held collaborative discussions with the Commissioner to jointly train staff and students in UENR and Indian Universities in the areas of research, scholarship, and educational capacity building through the exchange of academic programmes such as Bachelors, Masters and PhD for staff and students.
This bilateral talk took place at a meeting held on Monday, June 13, 2022, at the University Council Chamber to receive the High Commissioner and his entourage who paid a working visit to the University.
The Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebayo Felix Adekoya on behalf of the University Management appreciated the High Commissioner’s decision to extend his activities to the University and the Region at large. He also briefed him that the University has accomplished numerous research partnerships and innovations with organizations in the energy, engineering, and sciences among others. The Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor added that the University is prepared to establish strategic partnerships with Indian technological and scientific institutions through the Indian Embassy.
Disclosing the creation of a Virtual Community, he termed “Friends of India ” in the Bono Region, the High Commissioner recognized the need to build the capacity of higher education through the exchange of knowledge. He assured the University Management that his Office is ready to facilitate partnerships between eminent Indian Universities and UENR.
As part of the Indian High Commissioner’s itinerary for the visit, donated 25 books to the University Library. The University Librarian, Ms. Mercy Ama Asafu-Ajaye, received the books, which are on Indian ancient history, governance, economic development and security.
In an interaction with University Librarian, the High Commissioner promised to additionally provide the Library with access to over 1,000 Indian Scholars’ publications online to augment research activities in the University.
The University Librarian on behalf of the University Management thanked the High Commissioner for his thoughtfulness towards the Library. She assured him that the books would be processed and added to the collections for academic and research purposes.
The High Commissioner and his entourage also visited the University’s Earth Observation Research and Innovation Centre (EORIC). Over there, the Technician in charge, Mr. Nkwa Nana Ekow Sey walked him through the operation of the satellites for weather forecast, monitoring of fire outbreaks as well as other earth observation works.
