February 27, 2024, marked a significant milestone in the journey of the University of Energy and Natural Resources as the Management proudly inaugurated a state-of-the-art cafeteria at the Dormaa Campus. This momentous occasion, which was met with great enthusiasm and anticipation, symbolizes the university’s commitment to enhancing student life and fostering a conducive learning environment.
Funded by the Students Representative Council (SRC) at a cost of GH¢ 700,000, the newly commissioned cafeteria demonstrates the collaborative efforts of the university’s administration and its dedication student body.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. K.M Kuwornu, expressed his profound joy and gratitude for the realization of this long-awaited project. He extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Students Representative Council for their generous contribution and emphasized the importance of maintaining the facility to ensure its longevity and functionality.
The Dean of Students, Prof. Simon Abugri, highlighted the significance of the cafeteria in providing students with a conducive environment for learning and socializing. He reiterated the university’s commitment to prioritizing student welfare and creating spaces that facilitate academic success and personal growth.
The SRC President for the Dormaa Campus, Sarfo Kantanka shared insights into the decision-making process behind the project, revealing that all other endeavors were halted to prioritize the construction of the cafeteria. Recognizing the essential need for students to have a dedicated space for meals on campus, the SRC’s initiative underscores the student body’s proactive approach to enhancing campus amenities.
On his part, Dr. Emmanuel Opoku Marfo, Chairman of the Cafeteria Services Board, emphasized the importance of food hygiene and affordability in ensuring widespread student participation. Assuring students of a hygienic food preparation environment and affordable prices, Dr. Marfo encouraged students to patronize the cafeteria and make the most of this valuable addition to campus life.
With careful planning and attention to detail, the cafeteria features a large eating area, a contemporary kitchen, roomy storerooms, changing rooms, restrooms, and administrative offices.
Distinguished university officials, faculty, staff, and students, including the Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Georgina Asi Owusu, and Prof. Emmanuel Arhin, the Dean-in-Charge of the Dormaa Campus were present to witness the commissioning ceremony.
