Dr. Gifty Serwaa Mensah is a Research Fellow at the Regional Centre for Energy and Environmental
Sustainability (RCEES) at the University of Energy and Natural Resources in Sunyani, Ghana. Dr. Mensah has
previously worked as a Project Coordinator on United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and
Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) projects on energy access, and as an assistant
Project Coordinator on a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) project on low emissions strategies
for Africa at The Brew-Hammond Energy Centre of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and
Technology (KNUST), Kumasi in Ghana. She has also worked as a part-time Lecturer with the Mechanical
Engineering Department of KNUST.
Dr. Mensah holds a PhD in Development Studies from the KNUST, an MSc in Industrial
Ecology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from
the KNUST.
Her research interests include energy transitions, renewable energy, waste management systems, waste to
energy, energy policy, energy planning life cycle analysis, energy data, climate change and environmental health.
