Surv. Ing. Dr. Peter Damoah-Afari holds a PhD degree in Geomatics, specializing in Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) for Deformation Monitoring and Measurements, from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong; an MSc degree in Geoinformation Systems for Cadastral Applications, from the International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences (ITC), The Netherlands; and a BSc (Honours) degree in Geodetic Engineering, from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. He is a Professional Member of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS), the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), and the Ghana Geospatial Society (GGS).

Surv. Ing. Dr. Peter Damoah-Afari has worked in different capacities in many organizations in Ghana and abroad. Peter started his academic career as a Lecturer at the Department of Geodetic Engineering, KNUST. He is currently a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Geospatial Sciences, School of Geosciences, UENR. Before his appointment as a Lecturer in 2018 at UENR, he worked as a Senior Surveyor, CAD Surveyor, Director of Geomatics and Photogrammetry, and an Assistant Project Engineer in different companies in Hong Kong. He has lectured students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in many different courses, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry, Statistics, Geometry and Trigonometry, Geodatabases, Cartography, Land Surveying, Cadastral Surveying, Engineering Surveying, and Research Methods.

He is interested in the use of spatial data and the available technologies in solving spatially-related problems facing our societies. His research interests are in SAR Interferometry for Deformation Monitoring and Measurements; Environmental Monitoring and Climate Change; Geospatial Analysis of Environmental and Health-Related Issues; Land Use and Land Cover Dynamics; and Infrastructure Monitoring and Assessment. Dr. Damoah-Afari has published several papers in renowned journals.

With his strong and passionate desire to serve the academic, professional, and traditional communities, Dr. Damoah-Afari has served on many committees in different capacities within the University, the Professional Sector, and the Traditional society. He is currently the Sanaahene (Financial Secretary) of the Dormaa Traditional Area with stool name Baffour Dr. Kwadwo Damoah-Afari.
