As part of its core mandate to become a world-class institution, the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR)  has held discussions with the Ghana Digital Centre to set up a Digital Transformation and Innovation Center in the Bono Region which will be the first of its kind in the Northern sector of Ghana. This proposed collaboration was agreed on 17th March 2022 when the Head of Department of Computer Science and Informatics of our distinguished University, Dr Peter Appiahene paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Digital Center Ltd, Hon. Kwadwo Baa Agyeman and two other institutions in Accra.

With this partnership, the Bono Region and the other parts of the northern sector will have a centre specifically equipped to facilitate relevant IT innovation nation-building and to serve as a remedy to some current IT challenges facing the regions.

Dr. Appiahene held other talks with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Center (KAIPTC) to run digital courses on Peacekeeping and Security with UENR. This aims at decentralizing knowledge on modern and digital peacekeeping and security in Ghana and beyond. This initiative was reached when he visited the Director, Faculty of Academic Affairs and Research of KAIPTC, Prof. Emmanuel Kwesi Aning. They further discussed the need to make modern peacekeeping and security in the digital era more accessible to everyone in the country through short courses and capacity building seminars.

In their engagement, Mr. Brandt offered to accept students of the Department for future internships and special job placement considerations. This will equip the students with real-world experience and allow them to practicalize what is being taught in class.

Codetrain is one of Ghana’s leading software engineering training hubs that specializes in training the general public with contemporary technology skills relevant to the world.
