UENR INAUGURATES TEN NEW CENTRES

In connection with measures to be a leading University in Energy and Natural Resources, the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani, has inaugurated ten (10) centres. The inauguration which was well attended by staff at the University auditorium on the 12th of August, 2021 was also used to induct officers to head these new establishments. The centres inaugurated are:

  1. International Relations Office
  2. Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations Office
  3. Centre for Distance Education and E-Learning
  4. Centre for Grants, Research and Innovation
  5. Centre for Professional Development
  6. Centre for Students Skills Enhancement
  7. Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business Incubation
  8. Grounds and Beautification Unit
  9. Centre for Agriculture, Technology, Research and Production
  10. UENR Enterprise

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako speaking at the ceremony, disclosed the need to outdoor the newly created centres and offices to the university community. The Vice-Chancellor assured the university community of the privileges UENR stand to gain as a young university to have these centres which are vital to making the university a world-class academic institution. According to him, the centres would support the already existing ones to ensure effective governance of the university. He commended the Boards involved in the creation of the centres for their making it a reality and charged the officers to works assiduously to make the University great.

The occasion also saw the official handing over ceremony of Heads of academic Departments and Deans. Giving a brief remark before the handing over, the Vice-chancellor said it is important to properly hand the baton of leadership from one hand to another. This, he noted, is a clear indication of the good administrative system of the University. The Vice-Chancellor thanked the outgoing Heads for their immense support towards the growth of the university and called on them to extend their continuous support to the new leadership. He also congratulated the newly appointed Heads and Deans urging them to hold their new portfolios with high esteem as well as make teamwork and collaboration the hallmark of their work.

New Heads of Departments being sworn into office

The Officers took turns to present the functions, mission, vision as well as the action plan of their centres and offices. Staff present also made contributions and suggestions on how to make the centres effective and efficient.
