Ing. Dr. Mary Antwi, a Senior Lecturer and Head, Department of Environmental Management has been selected as an AWARD Policy Fellow in the third cohort of the Gender Responsive Agriculture Systems Policy (GRASP) Fellowship.

She is among the outstanding 50 women selected after a competitive selection process by independent panel of policy experts. The 50 policy practitioners from five Africa countries – Malawi, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda and Uganda— were selected from a pool of more than 500 applicants through a rigorous process that reviewed their track record and experience in agri-foods system. The Cohort commenced their journey on July 27th with a seven-day Women’s Leadership and Management Course (WLMC), one of the various training courses offered in the Fellowship. The course took place at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort in Mombasa, Kenya.

The GRASP Fellowship, an initiative of African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) is a non-residential program aimed at building a vibrant, highly connected and intergenerational network of African women policy professionals driving policy change for equitable agri-food systems in sub-Saharan Africa.
Through this Fellowship, AWARD Policy Fellows will be equipped with necessary skills and competences to contribute effectively to gender-responsive agricultural development, policy design and implementation at different levels –local, national, regional and continental.

The program will focus on fostering mentoring partnerships, developing technical and leadership capacities while also catalyzing networking and collaboration in the development of innovative policy projects. Participation in this Fellowship will enhance Fellows professional competencies and contribute meaningfully to their institutional goals, particularly in the areas of gender mainstreaming, agricultural research, and inclusive policy development.
