Eight UENR Students Leave for Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, on ERASMUS + Exchange Programme, University of Energy and Natural Resources - Sunyani

Under a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Energy and Natural Resources and the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovakia on the ERASMUS+ programme between EU member states and third-world countries, Two (2) faculty members and eight (8) students, made up of six (6) undergraduate and two (2) postgraduate students, at the Department of Atmospheric and Climate Science are embarking on the 2023/2024 exchange programme to the Slovak Technical University of Bratislava, Slovakia from April 20 to June 20, 2024.

This agreement seeks to provide an avenue for learning mobility for staff and students. Staff and students at the University of Energy and Natural Resources will benefit from the exchange programme through strengthened scientific and research capacity, mentorship and innovative and pedagogical leadership in teaching and learning.

The delegates before their departure paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako at his office. Briefing the Vice-Chancellor on the exchange programme, the Head of Department of Atmospheric and Climate Science, Dr. Nana Prempeh Agyemang noted that the beneficiaries for the exchange programme were topnotch students with excellent GPAs and expressed believe that they will perform well even at their new school for the few months of their stay. He added that the department will keep in touch with them to track their academic records and activities to ensure that they are in tune with academics when they return home. He appreciated the efforts of Faculty members in his department especially, Dr. Caleb Mensah whose initiative has led to the signing of the MoU.

The Vice-Chancellor in his remarks commended the Faculty members at DACS for their impact on the students’ academic development. He also extended a congratulatory message to the students who have passed through a rigorous selection process. He urged the students to be good ambassadors of the University in their new environment adding that they establish good networks beneficial to their academic progress.

The students are Joseph Asare, Evare Owusua Agyemang, Hertty Blankson, Blessed Aboagye, Sharon Asenso, Deborah Nketsiah, Kelvin Manu Osei, and Samuel Kwaku Badu Boahen.

Ms. Evare Owusua Agyemang on behalf of the students extended a note of appreciation to the University for the opportunity given to them to build on their academics in a different environment. She assured the University Management that they would perform well and put the name of the University in good records.
