Dr. George Kwadwo Anane is a higher education administrator and academic with over a decade of relevant experience in university management, teaching and research. Currently (since October 7, 2024) he works as Deputy Registrar and Head of the General Administration Division at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR). Concurrently, he is Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Sustainability Science at the same university, where he lectures in the BSc. Planning and Sustainability Programme. He has previously worked as Senior Assistant Registrar and Acting Head of the Academic and Students’ Affairs Division (July 2018 to August 2022) and Deputy Registrar and Head of the same Division (September 2022 to September 2024).
From September 2017 to June 2018, he was Senior Assistant Registrar (Quality Assurance and Planning) and Assistant Registrar (Quality Assurance and Planning) from September 2013 to August 2017. Dr. Anane completed his Ph.D. at the School of Architecture and Planning, University of the Witwatersrand under the Wits-TUB Postgraduate Urban Lab Project between 2018 and 2022. His research employed the case study strategy and the qualitative research design to investigate the relationship between land administration systems and spatial change in peri-urban areas in Ghana with Kumasi and Sunyani as case studies. His research juxtaposed the western or ‘formal’ system of planning and land administration, and that of the traditional authorities, showing how the latter (traditional authorities) have agency in the former, and through this participate with direct stakes in the emerging peri-urban land market. He also holds a Master of Science in Development Policy and Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, and a Bachelor of Science in Tourism from the University of Cape Coast, all in Ghana. He has received other fellowships by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Between February 2020 and September 2020, he participated in the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) sponsored programme in University Leadership and Management (UNILEAD) at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, Germany. Prior to the UNILEAD, he participated in the DAAD sponsored TRAINIQA Programme for Anglophone West Africa at the University of Duisburg-Essen from 2015 to 2016. He has published peer reviewed articles in urban planning, and higher education leadership and management journals. Dr. Anane is a reviewer for journals such as Habitat International and Land Use Policy. He has also written over 30 memoranda, proposals, and position papers leading to the advancement of knowledge and improvements in several sections of UENR and higher education in general. Dr. Anane has served on over 50 committees (statutory and adhoc) at UENR. He has also served as Secretary to over 10 Search Committees for the appointment of Vice-Chancellors, Pro Vice-Chancellors, Principals, and Registrars in other universities in Ghana.
Dr. Anane has served as External Assessor for the assessment of promotion documents (Senior Members-Non-Teaching) for the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa, Takoradi Technical University and Sunyani Technical University. He is a Member of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) and the West African Anglophone Quality Assurance Network (WAAQAN).
