The Natural Resources Students Association (NARSA) of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, launched its week celebration with a Seminar on the theme “Sustainable Green Economy, the Role of Natural Resources Students”.

The Week launch saw the Director of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Prof. Daniel A. Ofori deliver a presentation as the Keynote Speaker on Green Economy for National Development. In his address, Prof. Ofori noted that green economy among other climate change measures is geared toward supporting sustainable consumption and production. “We need to protect our resources and consume them in a sustainable manner,” he said.

Prof. Ofori further revealed that Ghana has suffered from dramatic forest degradation and deforestation, and  has one of the highest costs of environmental degradation in the world. To achieve a sustainable green economy for national development, he was sentimental that all and sundry must join hands to ensure that the government’s commitment to climate change is achieved.
