UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT CUTS SOD FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 200 BED HOSPITAL FACILITY

The Management of the University of Energy and Natural Resources and Ghana Gas Company Limited officially cut sod for the construction of a state-of-the-art 200-bed capacity hospital. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Monday, September 18, 2023 marking a pivotal moment in providing quality healthcare within the region. Upon completion, the facilty will house an administrative block, pharmacy block, male and female wards, and a laboratory.

Prof. Kwasi Nsiah-Gyabaah, the Chairman of the University Council, expressed profound gratitude for the commencement of the project. He offered heartfelt prayers for the successful completion of the facility and its effective utilization by stakeholders to enhance healthcare delivery. He further urged the University to focus its research interest on prevalent health issues within the surrounding communities and accordingly specialize its services.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako shared the inspirational journey that led to the conceptualization of the project. He reaffirmed the University’s unwavering dedication to holistic development and emphasized the significance of the facility upon completion as a place of healing, compassion, as well as a symbol of the university’s commitment to the well-being of the community.

The financier of the project, Ghana Gas Company Limited, represented by Mr. Anyimah Edomgbole, the Community Relations Manager expressed their amazement at the progress achieved at the construction site. He reassured the gathering of the company’s strong financial commitment in ensuring the successful completion of the project.

Dr. Kofi Amo-Kodieh, the Bono Regional Director of Ghana Health Service in his speech acknowledged the significance of the project in improving healthcare delivery and accessibility within the region and beyond.

Prior to the sod-cutting ceremony, a delegation from Ghana Gas Company Limited, led by Mr. Anyimah Edomgbole, paid a courtesy call on the Vice- Chancellor and the University Council Chairman. During the meeting, both parties reiterated their steadfast commitment in seeing to the successful completion of the project.
