The Guidance and Counselling Centre of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has held a female student-focused engagement dubbed “Girls Talk” to provide a safe space for open discussion, awareness and positive dialogue on issues affecting the well-being and development of female students on campus.
The programme which took place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Conference Room of University Hall 1, brought together students and resource persons from key University support units.
Mrs. Eva Atika Bakuri Dinye, head of the guidance and counselling Centre, introduced participants to student support services and emphasized the importance of personal development throughout university life.

Addressing issues of health and well-being, Dr. Mary Okyere of the University Health Services Directorate encouraged participants to prioritise their physical and emotional welfare and to make use of available counselling and health support systems. She guided students through hygienic practices during menstrual periods, while also highlighting family planning methods and protection against sexually transmitted infections.
Participants were also taken through academic support and library services in a presentation led by Ms. Pearl Owusua Amanquah, who highlighted the role of the University Library in enhancing learning and research. She underscored the importance of preparing learning schedules and encouraged participants to adopt routines that work best for them.
Attention was further drawn to issues of safety and student protection, as Dr. Mary Antwi, Chairperson of the Sexual Harassment Committee, raised awareness about institutional reporting channels and the need to uphold respectful relationships within the campus community.

The engagement concluded with an interactive discussion segment, which allowed students to ask questions and engage openly with facilitators, reinforcing the objective of creating a trusted platform for education, empowerment, and personal growth.
