
The Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (GRASAG–UENR), on Friday, February 6th, 2026, held a successful handing-over and swearing-in ceremony, marking a significant transition in leadership and a new administration. The solemn ceremony, which brought together university management, outgoing and incoming executives, graduate students, and guests, highlighted the importance of continuity, accountability, and service in student leadership.
The Dean of Students, Prof. Simon Abugri, giving his opening remarks, welcomed participants and outlined the purpose of the gathering. In his remarks, he emphasized the need for smooth leadership transitions and encouraged the incoming executives to collaborate with university management to promote the welfare and interests of graduate students.
The outgoing GRASAG President, Dr. Roger Twum, addressing the gathering before handing over, reflected on the administration’s tenure, key experiences, and lessons learned. He expressed his appreciation to the executive team and the graduate student body for their support.
The newly sworn-in President, Mr. Emmanuel Botchway, in turn, delivered an acceptance and vision statement, expressing gratitude to God and to the graduate student body for the confidence placed in him and his team. He acknowledged the efforts and sacrifices of the outgoing administration, noting that leadership is never easy and that the outgoing executives made meaningful contributions to the growth and progress of GRASAG–UENR. Emphasizing that leadership is about service. Mr Botchway called on his fellow executives to approach their mandate with unity, integrity, transparency, and dedication.
Mr. Emmanuel Botchway further outlined his vision, which focused on strengthening the image and credibility of GRASAG–UENR, fostering effective communication and collaboration with university management, promoting inclusive leadership, and building sustainable systems that will endure beyond the current administration. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to listening, engagement, and action, while encouraging constructive criticism as a tool for growth and improvement. He concluded by calling on all graduate students to support the new leadership and hold it accountable, stressing that GRASAG is a collective responsibility.
