Following insightful engagement at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the University Relations Office (URO) of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) embarked on a two-day study tour where the delegation engaged the Directorate of Public Affairs to explore best practices in strategic communication, media relations, protocol management, and institutional reputation building.

The delegation was welcomed by the Registrar of UCC, Mr. Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye Esq., who encouraged the team to make the most of the engagement by exploring the University’s communication structures and operational practices.
The Acting Director of Public Affairs, Dr. Kwabena Antwi-Konadu, presented an overview of the Directorate’s structure, mandate, and operations, highlighting the specialised roles of the Public Affairs Directorate and how the integrated structure supports the University’s visibility, institutional reputation, and strengthens engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

Heads of the Directorate’s specialised units took turns to deliver presentations on their respective operations, outlining approaches to media engagement, institutional documentation, protocol management, and digital communication. Discussions also examined operational workflows, emerging trends in higher education communication, and strategies for enhancing institutional visibility through coordinated communication systems.
Speaking on behalf of the UENR delegation, Deputy Registrar and Head of URO, Dr. Alfred Ohenenana Appiah, expressed appreciation to the Management and staff the Directorate for their openness in sharing experiences. He noted that lessons from both KNUST and UCC would contribute to ongoing efforts to enhance communication practice, stakeholder engagement, and service delivery at UENR.
The engagement concluded with an interactive session during which both institutions exchanged ideas on contemporary public relations practices and opportunities for sustained collaboration.
