The Society of Petroleum Engineers is a governing organisation for all Petroleum Engineers around the world. The Society seeks to draw the attention of the world to its vast contribution to quality human life through services provided in various streams of the petroleum industry.

The Society is open to all professionals in the petroleum business from accountants to engineers. As long as you provide a service in any stream of the industry, you are eligible to be a member.

The SPE UENR Student Chapter was constituted with the first batch of students but was only officially recognised after the first batch of students graduated in 2018. The student section is under the mother section- SPE Ghana Section. UENR has since organised numerous energy4me outreach activities and engaged students in the SHS in the Sunyani enclave to promote energy and petroleum engineering.

Over the years, the UENR chapter has been outstanding and has contributed significantly to SPE activities in Ghana. At the 2022 Student Congress, UENR won the Petrobowl and had a chance to represent Africa on the world stage. Currently, 4 out of the 10 most outstanding students are UENR trained.
