UENR LADIES MARKS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION WITH UENR BASIC SCHOOL

The UENR Ladies Association has paid a visit to the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) Basic School as part of their activities for the observation of this year’s International Women’s Day. The visit aimed at creating awareness on the role women play in society and  to highlight  the importance of International Women’s Day.

The pupils were engaged in a series of topics such as personal hygiene, adolescent health reproduction and the importance of academic discipline. The Association also distributed items such as sanitary pads and basic hygiene items to the pupils.

Present at the program were the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako, the Headmistress of the basic school, Mrs Irene Asare Yeboah, the president of UENR Ladies Association, Mrs Eva Atika Bakuri Dinye, other Executives and members of the Association.

The visit to the Basic School also marks the beginning of the UENR Ladies Association’s visit to other basic schools in the community as part of their outreach programmes for the year.

The Association is open to all female staff of the University with a mission to empower women and develop their leadership management competences by enhancing their professional, spiritual, socio-economic, physical and cultural well-being.
