The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako on Saturday, August 13, 2022, led a host of staff and students to embark on a health walk as part of activities to mark the 10th-anniversary celebration of the University. The Event, which coincided with the activities of the UENR SRC week celebration, saw hundreds of participants cladded in UENR branded attire who started the walk at the GETFund hostel at the Sunyani campus through the principal streets of Sunyani township and back to campus.
The Vice-Chancellor and the Ag. Pro. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John K.M Kuwornu, during the exercise spearheaded the sharing of admission flyers to people at the main lorry station and shops in town to further create awareness of the academic programmes offered at UENR and 10th-anniversary celebration. The two-hour Walk backed by a brass band was followed by a health screening exercise at the University Clinic where the health team checked the blood pressure, sugar level, and any other health conditions of participants. According to the Director of the University Health Services, Dr. Solomon Fofie, the screening recorded massive participation and was a success.
The Event was organized by the 10th Anniversary Planning Committee in collaboration with the SRC.
The Anniversary celebration was launched in February this year and the climax is scheduled for December with a grand durbar.
