The Minister of Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu has donated hospital equipment to the Dormaa Campus of UENR. The equipment which included two (2) sets of Intensive care beds, two (2) pieces of oxygen concentrator, 100 pieces of oxygen prong, a haemoglobinometer, a set of examination couches and lamps, two (2) sets of side cabinets among other relevant equipment for emergency purposes, was to enable the commencement of a clinic at the Campus.
The Minister, on February 20, 2023, led a team of dignitaries including the Director General of Ghana Health Services, Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye hand over the equipment to the University at a short ceremony held in front of the Main administration, Sunyani Campus.
In his speech before handing over the items to UENR Management, the Minister who is also a member of Parliament for the Dormaa Central Constituency was in response to the Minister’s pledge to support the development of the Campus, when the Dean of In-charge of the Dormaa Campus, Prof. Emmanuel Arhin called on him. He reaffirmed his effort to add to the existing infrastructure of the University especially at the Dormaa Campus, adding that the Ministry will continue to work and advocate for resources for the School.
On behalf of the University, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako, expressed appreciation to the Minister for the kind gesture towards the University. He said though University has entered into an agreement with the Dormaa Hospital to provide health care for the students, the donation was timely because it would augment the Management’s quest to provide quality health care delivery for staff and students. He assured the Minister that the equipment would be used for the intended purpose and properly maintained to last long.
The Acting Director of the University Health Services, Dr. Solomon Fofie thanked the Minister for the support. He acknowledged that the equipment would help the health personnel at the clinic provide quality emergency responses to patients.
