The Member of Parliament of Cape Coast North Constituency, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku has advised the final year students of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), to establish and maintain good networking as they prepare to exit the University to join the world of work. Dr. Minta Nyarku said if the soon to be graduates want to succeed after school, they ought to strive to build strong relations with their colleagues, lecturers and bosses as they may be of help to them in getting jobs or any opportunity to build their career.
The Cape Coast North MP made mention of this when he was addressing the final year students of the University on Monday, September 12, 2022 at the University Auditorium on Emotional Intelligence and Exit Plan talk convened by the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business incubation (CEBI).
The Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof John K. M. Kuwornu addressing the gathering acknowledged that life in school differs from life after school. In order to cope, Prof. Kuwornu said the students ought to attain some level of Emotional Intelligence (EI) needed for the world of work. He added that the University through the CEBI seeks to equip students with soft skills such as self-awareness, empathy, self-control, business start-up, among others that addresses the anxieties of the students as they venture into the challenging job market. He expressed appreciation to the Head of CEBI, Mr. Reginald Djimatey for convening the programme featuring the seasoned speakers who delivered on topics relevant to students’ life after school.
According to the Head of the Centre, Mr. Reginald Djimatey, the programme forms part of the Centre’s mandate to prepare students for the changing trends in the job market.
Mr. James Kwesi Addison, an Internationally recognized Emotional Intelligence Coach took the students through a therapy on Emotional Intelligence as a “First Aid for Entrepreneurship”.
