The Student Chaplaincy Council (SCC) of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani Campus, on Sunday, August 2, 2026 held its handing-over and recognition service. The ceremony, held at the Bank of Ghana Auditorium, was themed “Service as a Choice,” Joshua 24:14–15 marked a transition from the 2025/2026 administration led by Pastor Bright Kwame Bannor to the new administration led by Pastor Theophilus Ganchie of the Assemblies of God Campus Ministry (AGCM).
Delivering the exhortation, the University Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Benjamin Darko Asamoah, reminded the new administration that service to God is a conscious choice that requires commitment, sacrifice and integrity. He urged the new executives to approach their responsibilities with humility and dedication, encouraging them to place the interests of the Christian community and the University above personal interests. Rev. Dr. Asamoah further charged the new leadership to remain faithful to its calling and demonstrate responsible Christian leadership in all aspects of its work.
In his farewell address, the outgoing SCC President, Pastor Bright Kwame Bannor, expressed gratitude to God and the University community for the opportunity to serve. He encouraged the incoming administration to lead with humility, dedication and the fear of God while building on the achievements of the outgoing administration.
The newly appointed SCC President, Pastor Theophilus Ganchie, pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessors and provide inclusive, prayer driven and service oriented leadership. He expressed his commitment to strengthening unity among the various Christian denominations on campus and advancing the spiritual and welfare needs of students.
The ceremony also featured praise and worship, prayers for the university and the presentation of citations to members of the outgoing administration and other individuals who had contributed to the growth of Christian activities at UENR. The recognition provided an opportunity to appreciate individuals whose commitment and service had contributed to the growth of the SCC and the wider UENR Christendom.
