STAKEHOLDERS’ MEETING HELD ON A PROPOSED PROJECT CO-OPERATION BETWEEN TABCON ENERGY AND UENR

TABCON Energy, a Development Consulting Company operating in the Renewable Energy Sector in Ghana has engaged UENR at a meeting to discuss possible areas of collaboration on Tain Solar Energy, Nature Conservation, Eco-Tourism and Value-added Agriculture Project. The stakeholders’ meeting which took place on September 11, 2021, at the University Auditorium was attended by Lecturers from various Schools in the University.

Dr. Paul Tabiri, CEO of TABCON Energy presenting on the components, objectives and current status of the project revealed that the 10-megawatt Hybrid Power project when completed, would contribute to the National Grid, create employment and attract foreign market through Value-added Agriculture. He added that UENR has been selected to partner with the project and provide human resource assistance, research at the communities around the site as well as serve as one of the stations for energy storage due to the promising nature of the University.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako in his response to the proposed project, expressed gratitude that UENR has been earmarked as a key partner of the project. He added that UENR’s involvement is appropriate because the requisite experts for the project are available. He registered the University’s willingness to contribute various expertise towards the accomplishment of the project.

The Project is located at Tain River in the Bono Region and before the end of September 2021, UENR is expected to submit staff profiles and areas of expertise to TABCON Energy leading to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to that effect.
