In a significant achievement, two students; Mr. Albert Damoah, an MPhil student from the School of Geosciences (Department of Geography and Sustainability Science) and Mr. Enoch Oppong, a Level 300 student from the School of Natural Resources (Department of Ecotourism, Recreation, and Hospitality), have been awarded prestigious Erasmus scholarships for student exchange programme at the Eberswalde University of Sustainable Development in Germany.

Dr. Yaw Boakye Agyemang, a faculty member in the Department of Ecotourism, Recreation, and Hospitality, expounded that the Erasmus Scholarship is a distinguished European Union initiative aimed at promoting student exchange and cultural enrichment. He revealed that the two students would embark on their academic journey during the winter semester, commencing on September 15, 2023, and ending on February 23, 2024.
Dr. Agyemang emphasized the significance of the Erasmus programme, highlighting its role in fostering collaboration and cultural exchange among European universities. Under this esteemed scholarship, the two students would be given an opportunity to actively engage themselves in the academic and cultural environment of the Eberswalde University of Sustainable Development, renowned for its expertise in sustainable development and environmental sciences. He underscored that their selection was a testament not only to their academic prowess but also to their commitment to advancing knowledge in the fields of energy and natural resources.
He further elaborated, “The exchange programme would span a significant portion of the academic year, enabling the students to engage in coursework, research endeavors, and collaborative projects aligned with their academic interests. Additionally, they would gain invaluable international exposure, broadening their horizons while networking with scholars and peers from diverse backgrounds.”

The Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor John K. M. Kuwornu, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the two students, hailing their accomplishment as a momentous milestone not only for the students but also for the University. He emphasized that their selection underscored their dedication and the exceptional quality of education provided at UENR. Prof. Kuwornu also highlighted the University’s commitment to providing global opportunities for its students and encouraged the recipients to excel and be ambassadors of the UENR.
The Students expressed their profound gratitude for the unwavering support received from their respective Heads of Departments, faculty, and staff. They reiterated their commitment to making the most of this remarkable opportunity and vowed to bring back valuable knowledge and experiences to contribute to the advancement of energy and natural resources at the University and in Ghana.
