The UENR Basic School held its first graduation ceremony on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024, for Nursery, Kindergarten 2, and the inaugural batch of Junior High School graduates. A total of 164 pupils transitioned from pre-school to Primary One and KG 2, while 17 JHS students graduated.
Prof. Emmanuel Arhin
Prof. Emmanuel Arhin, Dean of the UENR, Dormaa campus, who delivered a speech on behalf of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako. Prof. Asare-Bediako congratulated the class of 2024, expressing pride in their achievements and applauding the teachers for their dedication to quality education and pupil support. Prof. Arhin emphasized the crucial role of parents in their children’s education and development, urging them to provide encouragement, love, and support to help their children become responsible adults.
Mr. Gabriel Antwi
Mr. Gabriel Antwi, the Bono Regional Director of Education, advised the students to be respectful, obedient, hardworking, focused, and disciplined in all aspects of their lives. He stressed that while students cannot choose their origins, they are responsible for their futures and must remain focused and disciplined to achieve their goals. Mr. Antwi also used the occasion to introduce the new standard-based curriculum for Senior High School (SHS), set to start in September. He explained that the Ghana Education Service aims to use a 21st-century teaching approach to positively impact students, with subjects including Critical Thinking, Communication, Problem Solving, Gender Equality, and Social and Emotional Learning. The flexible courses are designed to prepare well-rounded students for the job market.
Madam Irene Asare Yeboah
Madam Irene Asare Yeboah, Headmistress of UENR Basic School, praised the graduates for their hard work, self-control, and determination. She assured that the school would continue to use advanced tools and technology to impart knowledge, skills, and values to the students.
The graduation ceremony featured spectacular performances by the pupils, including modeling, poetry recitals, music, and dancing, which delighted the parents. Prizes were awarded to pupils and students who excelled academically.
