UENR Credit Union Elects New Board, Targets Growth and Increased Savings

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) Credit Union held its annual general meeting on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 and a significant item on the agenda was the election of a new board of Directors and Supervisory Committee.

Mr. David Twumasi-Ankrah, Chair of the Credit Union’s election committee, introduced the nominated members. Following a transparent public voice vote, all nominated members were accepted and officially elected by the attending credit union members.

Dr. Alfred Ohenenana Appiah, Deputy Registrar and head of the University Relations Office (URO), was elected as the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors. After the swearing-in ceremony, credit union members congratulated the new board and emphasized the importance of dedicated service. They urged the board to collaborate effectively to make the UENR Credit Union one of the most vibrant in the country, stressing the need for sacrificial work to propel the credit union to greater heights.

Mr. Asante Kwame Paapa, Manager of the UENR Credit Union, gave a presentation encouraging members to prioritize saving a portion of their income. He advised against spending all available funds and highlighted the benefits of staying with the credit union.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Appiah thanked the members for re-electing him and his team. He acknowledged their continued trust and highlighted the increase in membership and contributions during his previous term. Dr. Appiah promised to maintain this positive trajectory, ensuring the Credit Union’s continued growth and service to its members.

Other members of the Board of Directors include Ms. Irene Asantewaa Appiah-Fei, Mrs. Nana Yeboaa Opuni-Frimpong, Ms. Dorothy Agyenim Boateng, Mr. Augustine Opoku-Mensah, Mr. Baffour Antoa Mensah, Prof. Alex Akwasi Opoku, Mr. David Ntiamoah Ofosu, and Dr. Richard Baffour Okyere.

Members of the Supervisory Committee include Ms. Rosina Addo Asamoah, Ms. Rita Bernice Kuuire, and Mr. Richard Twum Barima.
