The University of Energy and Natural Resources and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have jointly launched a book highlighting a major initiative to strengthen renewable energy education and bridge the gap between academic training and industry needs in Ghana.
The book launch marks the culmination of the Professional Education for Renewable Energy in Ghana (ProREG) Project, a three-year collaborative initiative involving Technische Universität Berlin and several industry partners. The project was funded by the German Academic Exchange Service to address a long-standing challenge within Ghana’s higher education system; the mismatch between theoretical training and practical skills.

The book titled “Empowering Ghana’s Engineering Future: A Model for Professional Education in Renewable Energy and Beyond” documents the design, implementation, and impact of the ProREG project. Edited by William Oduro, Stefan Wolf, Samuel Gyamfi, Joseph Akowuah, and Joerg Longmuss, the publication highlights innovative curriculum models, industry-academia partnerships, and institutional reforms that have strengthened renewable energy education in Ghana.
The book is expected to serve as a valuable resource for universities, policymakers, and development partners seeking practical strategies to reform professional education and strengthen the renewable energy workforce across Africa.
The launch marks an important milestone in Ghana’s efforts to align engineering education with the needs of a rapidly transitioning energy economy.
