UENR Ladies Association and UENR Basic School Plant Trees to Observe International Women’s Day

UENR Ladies Association on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, observed the Month for International Women’s Day with Pupils of the UENR Basic School. The Association together with the pupils planted various ornamental plants at the School’s premises to beautify the environment and to promote the national flagship programme of Greening Ghana.

The event was graced by the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Georgina Asi Owusu where she lauded the Association for the initiative to impact the culture of preserving the environment among young people. She urged the teachers to ensure the pupils nurture the plants to grow well, which also forms part of training them to become environmentally friendly.

The President of the Association, Mrs. Eva Atika Bakuri Dinye in her address said aside from impacting members with knowledge in their daily and career life, it was prudent to take its activities to the young people of the University for sustainable growth. She said the celebration was also to create an atmosphere to reunite and share memorable moments as contemporary career women. She appreciated the membership attendance towards activities of the Association.

The tree planting exercise was led by the Registrar and other staff partaking in painting the flower vases beautifully and creatively made out of used car tyres with support from the Grounds and Beautification Section of the University. Some male staff of the University were present to rally their support for the event.
