On Wednesday, January 20, 2022 members of the University Management accompanied by a section of Deans, Directors, Heads of Department and other staff paid a courtesy call on the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. George Yaw Boakye in Goaso.

The purpose of the visit was to update the Minister on the progress made so far toward the establishment and operation of the Kenyasi campus of UENR. The UENR team was led by the Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Felix Adekoya, who made the presentation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.

During the meeting with the Minister, Prof. Adekoya established that arrangements have been made with regard to faculty, departments and programmes to be ran at the School of Mines and Built Environment, Kenyasi Campus. He announced that processes are far advanced to secure campus accreditation to enable the campus start operation at the beginning of the 2022/2023 academic year. The Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor also appealed for assistance to acquire additional lecture halls, offices for staff, student hostels, commutation bus and access road, among others.

The Regional Minister on his part was greatly impressed with the progress made so far and promised his unflinching support for every activity that will help to make the dream of a campus establishment in the Ahafo Region become a reality.

On the issue of acquiring a bus for the School, the Regional Minister indicated that Management of the University should put in an official request for a bus from the Government and get him informed so that he can make a follow up on it. He made a similar request concerning the financial clearance to recruit staff for the new campus. The Regional Minister further informed the Management team that he has called on the surrounding communities to pool resources together to put up facilities for the upcoming campus, and that some have already responded positively, getting ready to build hostel facilities for prospective students. He petitioned Management to ensure that at least a percentage of students to be admitted to the School are selected from the surrounding communities.
