The Council Members of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), chaired by Prof. Kwasi Nsiah-Gyabaah, on Friday, June 20, 2024, conducted an extensive inspection of ongoing projects at both the Sunyani and Dormaa Campuses.
The first point of inspection was the construction of a 4-storey ultra-modern multi-purpose and administration block at the Sunyani campus. Led by Project Consultant Ing. Daniel Kojo Afrifa from Gold Print Construction Ltd., the Council members toured the building, observing the ongoing works. Mr. Afrifa reported that the project is 90% complete and is on track for handover by December 4, 2024. He praised the contractor for the high-quality work and assured the University management that the structure would meet the expected standards upon completion.
Following this, the Council inspected the site of the new University Hospital, sponsored by the Ghana Gas Company. Site Engineer Jude Dery guided the members through the various sections of the hospital under construction. Mr. Dery highlighted that the project is progressing two months ahead of schedule, with the first phase expected to be completed by July 2025.
Expressing his satisfaction, Prof. Kwasi Nsiah-Gyabaah commended the ongoing projects, emphasizing their importance in enhancing the University’s infrastructure. He praised the contractors and consultants for their diligent work and urged them to adhere to the set timelines. Prof. Nsiah-Gyabaah also expressed optimism about future projects, anticipating further developments across the University campuses in the coming years.
Reaffirming the Council Chairman’s sentiments, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako described the progress as satisfactory. He encouraged the contractors to ensure the projects are not only timely but also of contemporary and high-quality standards.
The inspection concluded at the Dormaa campus, where the Council Members evaluated various ongoing projects at the new site. The visits underscored the University’s commitment to expanding and modernizing its facilities to better serve its students and staff.
