The Council Members and Directors of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, undertook a training programme at Eusbett Hotel as part of its Council meeting. The Council members retreated and reflected on the University Statutes and their responsibilities as members of the University’s highest decision-making body.

In his remarks at the training and meeting, the University Council Chairman, Prof. Kwasi Nsiah-Gyabaah appreciated the resource persons for their insightful presentations and advised participants to imbibe the experiences shared in their line of duty.

Speaking on University Governance, Management and Administration, the former Vice Chancellor at the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah charged participants to be well-informed on the University Statute. He explained that the Statute defines the roles and responsibilities of the Council, Management and Directors. Prof. Ghartey Ampiah further advised the student leaders who are part of the University Council to collaborate with University Management instead of resorting to protests. He reminded participants of their oath of secrecy and admonished them to eschew information leakage.

The Director of Finance at the Sunyani Technical University, Dr. Benjamin Prince Nartey Menzo presenting on Financial Administration reiterated the roles and responsibilities of the Council, Management and Directors on finance. He emphasized the University Council to ensure proper financial management of the University such as books of accounts and good records keeping. He took the Management through practical examples and best practices in financial management.
