The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), UENR Chapter, welcomed its newly elected executives on the 14th of September 2023, in a ceremony held at the University’s Auditorium in Sunyani.
Mr. Reginald Djimatey, the outgone UTAG President
In his opening address, Mr. Reginald Djimatey, the outgoing President, expressed his gratitude to the members of the Association for their unwavering support and the privilege of serving them. He took a moment to reflect on the achievements and challenges his administration went through, conveying his confidence in the capabilities of the incoming executives to surmount them. Mr. Djimatey offered his full support and trust to the incoming President, recognizing the rich history and promising future of the Association.
Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako,Vice-Chancellor
In a show of academic unity, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako who graced the event commended the outgoing executives for their dedication and urged the new administration to prioritize innovation, inclusivity, and diversity as their guiding principles.
Rev. Prof. Ing. Eric Ofosu Antwi, UTAG President
The newly sworn-in President, Rev. Prof. Ing. Eric Ofosu Antwi, pledged his unwavering commitment to transforming UENR through visionary and bold leadership, unity, freedom of expression, and the delivery of hope in advancing the UENR Dream. He also reaffirmed his campaign promises and encouraged members to hold his administration accountable for their commitments.
Among the noteworthy initiatives were the UTAG-UENR Regeneration, Policies aimed at equipping members to become world-class academicians, the upgrade of Assistant Lecturers to the status of Lecturers, the completion of the UTAG-GAUA Club House Project, the initiation of an insurance policy to cover terminal diseases like cancer, kidney, lung, and liver diseases, provision of office space for lecturers from the Dormaa Campus who teach on weekends at the Sunyani campus and vice versa. The plan also includes establishing general offices for UTAG-UENR and general office spaces for lecturers.
Rev. Prof. Ing. Eric Ofosu Antwi emphasized the importance of fostering an environment where every voice is heard, every idea is respected, and every dream is encouraged.

The occasion witnessed the presence of representatives from GAUA, SSAUoG, and other Unions, who took turns to congratulate both the outgoing and incoming executives.
The newly elected leadership comprises Rev. Prof. Ing. Eric Ofosu Antwi as President, Dr. Gilbert Akolgo as Vice President, Mr. Douglas Francis Appiah as Secretary, and Mr. Paul Hammond as Treasurer.
