VICE-CHANCELLOR PAYS COURTESY CALLS ON STAKEHOLDERS IN SUNYANI

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Energy Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani, Professor Elvis Asare-Bediako has paid the first part of his courtesy calls on key stakeholders of the University. The visit which allowed the Vice-Chancellor to interact with various Bono Regional Administrative Heads and Directors in the Sunyani Municipality forms part of his duty schedule since he assumed office on November 1, 2020.

Prof. Asare-Bediako together with some key Management of the University first called on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Martin Obeng. Receiving the team, the MCE expressed gladness to meet the new Vice-Chancellor and after exchanging pleasantries, the MCE assured management of their continuous support to the University. Prof. Asare-Bediako on his part indicated that his predecessors have achieved a lot for the University and he was optimistic of collaborating with the Municipal Assembly in making UENR and the region attain greater heights.

The team further visited the Bono Regional Health Directorate where they had a brief interaction with the Board Members of the Regional Health Directorate. The Regional Director of Ghana Health Services, Dr. Kofi Amo Kodieh welcoming the Vice-Chancellor and the team, said UENR plays a key role in the health sector of the region. He added that the Directorate is striving to ensure that quality health delivery in the region is met. Dr. Amo Kodieh was hopeful that the Directorate would collaborate with UENR in the area of health research.

Prof. Asare-Bediako in response called for a stronger relationship with the Directorate. “UENR is ever ready to involve in health research activities leading to the discovery of vaccines and prevention of diseases such as HIV, Malaria, TB among others” he assured.

The Vice-Chancellor and his entourage also visited the Regional Fire Service, the Regional Police Service and NEDCO where various discussions were held with the administrative heads of these institutions. He used the opportunity to thank them for their immense support over the past years and asked for a deeper relationship and collaboration to help develop UENR in becoming an internationally preferred choice in terms of tertiary education.
