School of Energy Recognizes Twelve Students for their Outstanding Performances, University of Energy and Natural Resources - Sunyani

The School of Energy hosted a dinner on June 26, 2023, to honour twelve (12) outstanding students who participated in the prestigious Ghana National Gas Challenge and Petrol Bowl Quiz Competition. The event was also used to recognize recipients of the Petroleum Students Association (PESA) award winners and was attended by esteemed faculty members, creating an unforgettable evening of celebration and acknowledgement.

The dinner, held at the University Cafeteria, served as a platform to highlight and appreciate the remarkable achievements of the students in showcasing the visibility of the School of Energy in particular and the University in general.

The UENR Team for the Ghana National Gas Challenge Quiz competition was made up of; Ebenezer Opare Gyimah, Nicholas Turkson, and Edna Quansah Djamea (Ms.) whereas Adolf Kumordzi Mahama, Michael Oppong, Theophilus Opoku, Nicholas Turkson and Klabi Fortune represented the University in the Petrol Bowl quiz competition. Ama Tiaa Boateng (Ms.), Joseph Nkulenu, Bonsu Osei Agyemang, and Vincent Ampong were the recipients of the Petroleum Students Association (PESA) awards. Participating universities included University of Mines and Technology, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, Kumasi Technical University among others.

Prof. Samuel Gyamfi, the Dean of the School of Energy giving his remarks

Prof. Samuel Gyamfi, the Dean of the School of Energy, expressed his profound gratitude to the students for their accomplishments. On his part, the Head of Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dr. Yaw Akyampon Boakye-Ansah appreciated the students’ achievements and appealed to them to study hard to be worthy ambassadors of the University.  

Present at the dinner were Ing, Prof. Nana Sarfo Agyemang Derkyi, the Head of Department of Renewable Energy Engineering, the Deputy Registrar and Head of URO, Alfred Ohenenana Appiah; Dr. Gifty Serwaa Mensah of RCEES and other faculty members and  staff from the School of Energy.
