Dr David Adu-Poku is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Sciences of the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani, Ghana. He holds a BSc. (Hons) Chemistry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana and a PhD in Physical/Analytical Chemistry from the University of Huddersfield, UK. Professionally, Dr. Adu-Poku also holds an MA Professional Development (International Education) from the University of Huddersfield, UK and a 3-Year Postsecondary Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ from the Wesley College of Education, Ghana.
He has an excellent research experience and a good track-record for publication in scientifically recognized peer-review journals. As an Early Career researcher, he has supervised/co-supervised 35 undergraduates and 4 graduate students under various projects broadly in Water, Energy and Food Safety. His current research interest encompasses studies on the dynamics of adsorption and desorption processes, synthesis and characterization of novel catalysts/biocomposites for a wide range of applications including clean energy, soil and water remediation against pharmaceutical residues, dyes, pesticides and heavy metals. He enjoys international collaboration and mentorship across different disciplines.
He has served in various capacities including Head of Chemical Sciences Department, School of Sciences Postgraduate Coordinator, Board Membership (Academic, Graduate School, School of Sciences, CeDEEL etc) and been a Chairman and member of several Committees.
He is a reviewer for a number of internationally peer-reviewed Scientific Journals including Journal of Food Engineering (Elsevier), Scientific African (Elsevier), European Journal of Nutrition and Food Safety, Journal of Advances in Food Science and Technology etc.
