Dr. Michael Asigbaase is an environmental ecologist and interdisciplinary researcher with over a decade of experience at the intersection of forestry, climate change, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable land management. His work focuses on plant-soil interactions, agroforestry system optimization, and bio-cultural ecosystem services, with a strong emphasis on community-based solutions and resilience building. Dr. Asigbaase has led and contributed to several applied research projects in West Africa and Central America, particularly addressing the socio-ecological dimensions of agroecosystems, medicinal plant conservation, and integrated landscape restoration.
He is a recipient of multiple prestigious awards, including the GETFUND Research Grant, and has served in leadership roles in academia including as Coordinator of Postgraduate Programmes at the School of Natural Resources, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Ghana. His interdisciplinary background enables him to work across scientific research, policy advising, and grassroots engagement—making him a valuable asset in driving evidence-based, inclusive, and scalable climate and biodiversity solutions.
He has worked across multi-stakeholder settings and mentored scholars under international programs such as the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, with a strong commitment to inclusive, evidence-based solutions to climate and development challenges. Dr. Asigbaase integrates both scientific and indigenous knowledge to inform sustainable land management.
