Dr. Issah Yahaya is a Synthetic Organic Chemist. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Chemistry, under the supervision of Prof. David Kofi Essumang, from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Cape Coast, Ghana, had his Master of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, with Prof. Nathaniel Nii-Adu Okine, from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana, and Doctor of Philosophy in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, under the tutelage of Prof. Dr. Zeynel Seferoğlu, from Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey. He also has a Diploma of Proficiency in Turkish Language from the Gazi University (TÖMER), Ankara, Turkey, and a Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), an online course, for teaching non-speakers of English Language. Dr. Issah was a recipient of the Turkish Government Scholarship to do his PhD with Prof. Dr. Zeynel Seferoğlu in the Chemistry Department, Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey.
Currently, Dr. Issah is a lecturer with the Department of Chemical Sciences, School of Sciences, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani, Ghana. He presently teaches and researches into programs related to Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, etc. Prior to this, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Prof. Dr. Zeynel Seferoğlu’s research group, ‘The Synthesis Group of Target Organic Molecules (SYNGTOM)’, Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey. As a trained Pharmaceutical Quality Control/Assessment/Analysis specialist, he had an industrial/professonal experience when he worked as the Quality Control/Assurance Manager at Aspee Pharmaceuticals Limited, Ejisu, Ashanti Region-Ghana. He has taught both in Ghana and in Turkey. In Ghana, he taught Elective Chemistry and Integrated science (Chemistry and Physics Aspect) at T.I. Ahmadiyya Girls’ SHS for some years. Also, he has taught on Part-Time and Full-Time bases in High Schools in Kumasi. In Turkey, he has taught in two colleges; Yaşamkent Seviye koleji and Aşiyan koleji. He has also contributed his quota in the improvement of education in Ghana by writing two books; Universal Series Chemistry Practical for Senior High Schools, and Universal Series Social Studies for Junior High Schools. An important uniqueness about Dr. Issah Yahaya is that, he has taught at all levels of education (Nursery to University).
Dr. Issah has published a number of academic papers in international peer review journals and has written a book chapter (https://scholar.google.com.tr/citations?user=LE57Bg4AAAAJ&hl=en). He has also attended many international conferences and seminars where he has shared his experience in his field of expertise. He brings a wide range of interests and expertise to his research. His expertise and cutting-edge research interests/areas typically embody five major themes: Synthesis, Structural elucidation, Phytochemistry of Ethnomedicines, Pharmacovigilance, and Environmental Chemistry. He is the leader of the research group called, Synthesis and Research Group of Applicable Molecules (SYREGAM) (website).
