I taught academic writing and communicative skills as an assistant lecturer before leaving for doctoral training. My research focus is language evolution. I think of myself as a computational linguist working at the intersection of complexity social science as well as language and cultural evolution. Feel free to ask me about it if that sounds odd!
My current work focuses on the diversity of resources for quantification across the languages of the world. In the long term, I care about applying computational tools (e.g., network analyses, agent based modelling) to model cultural evolution particularly within African contexts. I also have growing interests in big data, and generally find myself drawn to learning across fields.
