Mary Antwi is a Geospatial analyst and expert in geo-information science and a soil scientist. She is a Senior Lecturer and Research Scientist at the Department of Environmental Management, University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani, Ghana. Mary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geodetic Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and technology (KNUST), a Master of Science in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Land Management from Hassan II University, Casablanca, Morocco and a PhD in Soil Science from KNUST. She has a strong research interest in applying Geospatial technologies in environmental studies to manage natural resources and modelling.

She has attended a number of conferences and workshops in and outside Ghana to enrich her experiences in research. As part of her research activities, she has worked with several experienced researchers in and outside her research domain and has about sixteen (24) publications to her credit mainly peer reviewed articles in reputable journals. She has been involved in numerous projects that seek to improve the environment, build climate change resilience and improve livelihoods of communities in Ghana. She obtained scholarship from the Ghana Government and the Alliance for Green revolution in Africa (AGRA) project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation for her postgraduate studies. Mary has also served as a research consultant for Building Stronger Universities (BSU), a DANIDA project, and Institutionalization of quality assurance mechanism and dissemination of top-quality commercial projects (COMPRO), both hosted by KNUST. Currently, she is involved in DANIDA funded research aimed at building the resilience of Lake Bosomtwe to Climate Change (RELAB project) in Ghana as a research scientist. She is also a research fellow at the Regional Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, UENR. She is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), Ghana Science Association (GSA), Ghana Geospatial Scientists (GGS) and the University Teachers Association of Ghana.
Mary has been the Examination’s Officer, Head of Environmental Management Department, Postgraduate Coordinator as well as School Research Officer for the School of Natural Resources. As the current Head of Centre for Climate Change and gender studies, she advocates for climate change awareness and advocacy programmes using geospatial tools and climate data for modelling climate scenarios.
