Dr John Kwasi Annan, a professional University Administrator and Teacher, is an Assistant Registrar of the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani since January, 2021. Prior to his appointment at UENR, he was a Professional Teacher from 2006 to 2017 at the KNUST Junior High School, Kumasi. He holds a PhD in Educational Leadership (2021) from the Yemyung Graduate University, Seoul, South Korea. Whilst a student at Yemyung, John was appointed member of the University’s Thesis Validation Committee and a Graduate Assistant, teaching Coaching and Mentoring in Organizations. In addition, he holds M.Ed in Educational Administration and Management (2013) from the University of Education, Winneba. He again holds Bachelor of Business Administration (2011) from Christian Service University, Kumasi, Diploma in Basic Education from UEW and Teachers’ Cert ‘A’ from Ofinso College of Education. As a professional University Administrator, John belongs to the following professional bodies:
• Member, Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA)
• Member, Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants, Ghana
As a University Administrator, he has held a number of administrative positions including being:
• Assistant Registrar: Centre for Grants, Research and Innovation (Oct. 2024 –to date)
• Assistant Registrar/Ag Head of Department -Senior & Junior Staff Dept-HRD (May 2024 -Sept. 2024)
• Assistant Registrar/Sectional Head: Senior & Junior Staff Section-HRD (Jan 2023 -April 2024)
• Junior Assistant Registrar: Senior & Junior Staff Section-HRD (July 2021 -Jan 2023)
His love for issues of Administration, Management and Leadership has taken him to Japan, South Korea and China for conferences, workshops and Seminars where he shared his experience others. In his effort to help shape University Governance and Policies, he has authored over Ten (10) Memoranda and Proposals for Management consideration of which several have been implemented.
By dint of hard work, John:
• won the Best Male Senior Member Award for Registrar’s Office – 2023
• Founder, The University Staff Choir (UENR Chorale), September 2021
• Initiator of Easter Choral-fest Program at UENR, 2022.
John is an excellent communicator, very sociable, self-motivated, and a team player who always strives for excellence in all fields of endeavour. His love for Music saw him climb the ladder to become one of the Music Directors in The Methodist Church Ghana-Kumasi Diocese.
But in all, he believes strongly in the words of Henry van Dyke who writes that “Every task, however simple, sets the soul that does it free; every deed of love and mercy that is shown to man is shown to God” (Ref: Colossians 3:23).
